In our database of Illinois Primitive Baptist members, I have the
names of James, John, Joseph and Levi Jordan who were in Illinois at an
early date. I don't have much info on them, although I believe I have a
note that Joseph may have been one of the first settlers in Franklin Co.
Levi and James were both members of the Okaw Church near Shelbyville.
Joseph was a charter member of the church at Webb's Prairie which my Webb
ancestors helped establish.

I hope this will that I found in Edwards Co Ill. Will be of help to some
one. I also have a few more records that go with this family. It is not my
direct family but may be connected.
Will Of William Jordan:
I William Jourdon Of Edwards Co. Illionis yeoman being veary sick and weak
in body butt of perfect mind and memory thanks be unto God calling to mind
the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed to all men once
to die, do make and ordain this as my last will and testament that is to
say N.B. To Luis Jourdon my son I leave all all the land that I hold except
one third of the improved land I leave to my wife as long as she lives to
Luis the Distilary and all that belongs to it eacth of my daughters Catey
and Wineford I will one hundred dollard to each one. The two girls must
have one chest and one Desk wich ever marries first to have the Desk and to
Luis I leave one yoake of oxen and two yoake of Stears and one cow and
calf–and to my wife I will two cows and calfs and the balance of the cattle
to be Luisis unless my wife stands in need of. And to Luis I leave the
horses all but one that is the young sorrel horse and him I leave to my
wife N.B. and all the hogs I will to Luis my son- and one half of the wool
to my wife and her family yearly and all the house hold property I will to
my wife –and all the farming utensils I will to my son Luis - and one loom
to my wife- and the girls Winneford and Betty is to have a living with
thare mother as long as they continue to live together and if my wife
should want to go to any other place to live or leave the State then the
girls to draw what they all drew until thare Mothers death–
and my wife is to have as much fruit as she wants for her family use and
Luis is to finish of the frame end of the house for his Mother to live in
wile she_?__to live in it– And Luis is to give James ADAMS three children
ten dollars eatch when ther are fifteen years old in trade.
And to Betsy ARNOLD one dollar Jane HIGGEN one dollar Sally RUNNELS one
dollar.
This to remain in full force and vartue at my Deasse as my last will and
testament . In witness wharof I have heareunto set my hand and seal this
twenty fifth day of July A.D. 1823----
