NOTE: The Southern Illinois Literature refers to: William Barbrey name aNOTE: The Southern Illinois Literature refers to: William Barbrey name as: William Barberry and William Barbara: Barbrey name is FRENCH. Other variations of the name are: Barbee, Barbre, Barby, Barbry, etc. Wiliam Barbrey was a brother-in-law to the Jordan Family at the Thomas Jordan, Sr., Fort, near Thompsonville, Illinois. We find an intermarriage of families, as in: Whiteside, Brackett, and Barbrey; Jordan, Whiteside, Estes, Barbrey, Neal, Browning, and Garrett. David Barbrey Married, 1802, Warren County, Kentucky, to Nancy Whiteside. Issue: Jesse 1803; Peter 1808; David 1810; Stephan 1812; Emily 1813; Gracey Ann1815; Elizabeth 1817; & L. F. 1819. Samuel Whitside (1754 - 1811) and Elizabeth Brackett Issue in Warren County, Kentucky: 1.) Elizabeth Whiteside, married 3/15/1800 to William Estes; 2.) Nancy Whiteside, married 11/8/1802 to David Barbrey; and 3.) Mary Ann Whiteside, married 2/5/1806, to Thomas Jordan; and 4.) Prudence Whiteside married 11/10/1802 to James Jordan. (All marriages in Warren County, Kentucky.)

In the February Court of Warren County, 1808, the accounts of Marcellus Jordan,
deceased, were ordered settled with Philamon Hawkins acting as administrator.
Warren Co. NC Will Book 15, #308: 28 Nov 1810, Nov Court, 1819. Agreement among
heirs of Marcellus Jordan, dec'd.: Martha Jordan, Seth Jordan, Richard Jordan,
Benjamin Jordan, John Wortham, John H. Rudd, Wm. Montgomery, D. Terry and
Burchett Jordan. In exchange for sole ownership of a negro, Seth Jordan of
Franklin Co. relinquishes his interest in the land his father and mother
inherited from Bejamin Ward to his brothers, Richard and Benjamin Jordan. He
also gives up his share of the estate of his dec'd father (which would be his
at time of his mother's death) to his brothers and sisters, who all agree that
he have their share in the Negro. Wit: Henry C. Foster and Thomas Fleming
(Jurat).[ag1174ward.ged]
