Text: Joshua Jordan came from Virginia, about the year 1802, with a family of 3 or 4 children, among whom were Elizabith and Caleb. He had been atenant under George Washington (1732-99), and was with his landlord in Braddock's defeat (1755). Rumor has it, as amere supposition, that the British General fell a victim to a bullet designed to an insult offered a respected superior. Jordan settled on the S.W. 1/4 of section 12, where at the time of the Indian Disturbances he built a block-house. He subsequently removed to Barney's Prairie, and there died.
