| In 1802, Joseph Jordan owned land in Smith County, Tennessee. Nearby, on Brush Creek, we find that the Primitive Baptists in the Brush Creek Baptist Church had members of Elders Thomas Jordan, Senior and also Francis Marion Jordan. I think that line is correct when the historians stated that the Jordans and Brownings , came in 1804 to Franklin County, Illinois , from Smith County, Tennessee. The Brush Creek Baptist Church, was a meeting house - a double log cabin with the double door in the middle of the house along with the Chimney being in the middle of the log meeting house. I plan on drawing this CHURCH or Meeting House. Success: we now have an actual church of record that FRANCIS MARION JORDAN attended: 1802: Smith County, Tennessee: Brush Creek Primitive Baptist Church-attended by: Elder Thomas Jordan, Sr., Joseph Jordan, and Francis Marion Jordan. | Brush Creek Baptist Church was organized on May 29, 1802 by Elder John Hightower, Elder Thomas Jordan, Sr. and also Francis Marion Jordan, and near the 188 acres of land of Joseph Jordan. Elder John Hightower was the minister for the Trammel Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Allen County, Kentucky. It is safe to say that their families of Chism, Browning, Neal, Jordan , etc., were all members of the Trammel Creek Primitive Baptist in 1797 through 1806 - with Elder John Hightower, near Scottsville, Allen County, Kentucky - Marriages, Baptisms, Burials, etc., all took place there. The Jordans did not long have to hold religious services in their homes; they were : road builders, cattlemen, and builders of Baptist Churches. - Edited by Frank Kirkman. |
