In 1813, Charles Wilkins and Co., leased the Saline Salt Works near Equality Ill., mined Salt with l76 Slaves, and sold salt for $.37 1/2 a bushel. At a license fee of $12 a year, Charles Wilkins also ran the Saline Tavern from his home; a half-pint of whiskey cost $.12 1/2. The Jordan Family 'were also responsible for building roads to the U.S. Saline Salt Works at Equality, Illinois.
The Elder Thomas Jordan, Sr. was a road viewer for the road from Shawneetown, Ill. via equality, Il., to.Kaskaskia, Illinois. Capt. James Caldwell, husband of Susannah Jordan, was also a Road Supervisor in Equality, Illinois. Elias Jordan was a road-viewer for a road from 'Elizabethtown, Ill.,via Elias Jordan's home to the U.S. Saline Salt Works at Equality, Illinois. The 1813 Jordan Road was formed by road-viewers of: Francis Jordan, Joseph -Jordan, and Chism 'Estes, husband of Mary'.Jordan. The Jordan Road ran from Cavein-Rock, Ill. to Francis Jordan's home on the Kaskaskia Road to the U.S. Salines Spring Road at Equality, Illinois. On February.6. 1815, Joshua Jordan was a road supervisor from Palmyra, Ill., to Mt. Carmel, 111. of Wabash County to the line dividing Edwards and Gallatin Counties, Illinois. Finally, there Were two main Old Salt Routes:

1.) In 1807, from Vincennes, Indiana to Princeton, Indiana to the Wabash River to 15 miles north of Shawneetown, Illinois to the.Sa1t Works On Saline Greek, Illinois and to Equality, Illinois, and
2.) In 1809, from Frankfort Heights, Illinois, east of West Frankfort, Illinois to Half-Moon Lick and the 'Great Salt Springs near Equality, Illinois.
